The kick-off event in the context of the creation of the climate district concept “Senefelder Quartier – Südliche Innenstadt” took place on 22 February 2023 as a citizens’ forum in the refectory of the Albert Schweitzer School with about 60 participants.

After the opening by a greeting from the Mayor of Offenbach a.M. Sabine Groß, the event offered an extensive programme. After a project presentation, the State Energy Agency (LEA) of the State of Hesse provided information about subsidies for the energy-efficient modernisation of buildings. EVO, as a local utility company, reported on its strategies for reducing GHG.

Between the individual programme items, the citizens were directly involved through workshop elements. In this way, it was possible for the citizens to have an active influence on the design of their neighbourhood by expressing ideas, wishes and concerns.

Wishes for further events include, in particular, information on the heat-efficient and climate-resistant renovation of residential buildings, taking into account the concerns of the protection of historical monuments and the preservation of the character of the neighbourhood.

The event was accompanied by a graphic recording.
